I am inspired by the beauty of nature, watching the sunrise in the early morning, the growth of plants from seeds to harvest, and star filled nights. I had the privilege of living and working in the small coffee producing community of Los Cacaos in the mountains of the Dominican Republic. With my love of nature and my background in organic agriculture this experience inspires me daily as to the joys of working in solidarity with people who are making positive changes in the world. ¿Qué que me inspira? Es una buena pregunta, y la respuesta no es tan sencilla. Podría decir que el hecho que he tenido que trabajar muy duro desde que era un adolescente para poder llegar a superarme como persona, también podría decir que el hecho de ser bisexual y haber sido objeto de un sin fin de burlas y agresiones; o tal ves por vivir en carne propia los estrago que hace el VIH en una sociedad ignorante. My life changed from that day on because I realized when you lose just one parent, it feels like your world has come to an end. I never looked at my mother, single parents or widows the same way since. My heart’s desire is to open up a safe haven for such kids to call home. If you still have one of your parents, please appreciate him/her because you still have it better than some of the kids in an orphanage.
